2022 is a landmark year for British Water, with our much-anticipated merger with the Water Industry Forum now completed. By coming together, we’re creating an even stronger organisation, able to deliver added value for all of our members, key stakeholders, partners, and the sector as a whole. British Water was itself created by a merger, with its origins stretching back to 1938. In 1993, two trade associations BEWA (British Effluent and Water Association) and BWIG (British Water Industries Group) joined forces to become the UK’s leading water and wastewater membership organisation. The Water Industry Forum was established in 2012 as a neutral and independent forum for the UK water sector.
